The Hotel Alpenhof in the Salzburg region first opened its doors in the 1970s. It was then that the Promegger grandparents opened a small guesthouse in Großarl Moar-Dörf'l, in the heart of the Großarl Valley. Soon, the Alpenhof in the Valley of the Alms became an insider’s tip for holidays in both summer and winter. More and more holidaymakers wanted to enjoy the wonderful location surrounded by greenery and, not least, Grandmother Promegger’s famous culinary skills.

Over the years, the family-run hotel in Großarl was continuously expanded. Today, the third generation, Klaus Knapp, runs the Alpenhof near Salzburg with heart and soul. Klaus is a qualified hotel manager and brings new life, new concepts and new visions to the Alpenhof. Deeply rooted in his homeland, down-to-earth and an enthusiastic paraglider, mountaineer and winter sports enthusiast, DerAlpenhof offers its guests a hassle-free holiday experience.

We come from a dynasty of hoteliers who have been running hotels in the Salzburger Land for generations. Our Hotel Alpenhof in Grossarl in the valley of the alps was built by pioneers in the hotel business. The new and youngest generation brings with it energy and fresh ideas. On this basis, we offer our guests individual holidays à la carte for their summer and winter holidays: easy-going hospitality with lots of freedom and a dash of original Salzburger flair.
